Terms of Use
Last updated 5 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and the team behind My Side for using My Side. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how your information is handled.
What the service is
My Side lets you collect and organise evidence for a divorce or family-law dispute and share it with your lawyer. We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. Using My Side does not create a lawyer-client relationship with us. Talk to your own lawyer about your case.
Your account
- You must be at least 18.
- Give accurate details and keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.
- Lawyers using My Side confirm they are entitled to practise and will follow their professional duties.
Your evidence
- It stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it (including with AI, as the Privacy Policy explains) and show it to the people you choose, only to run the service for you.
- Only add things you are allowed to have. Do not upload anything obtained by breaking into someone's account or device, secretly intercepting their communications, or otherwise unlawfully. You are responsible for what you add.
- Do not add anything unlawful, such as material that exploits children, or use My Side to harass or threaten anyone.
What we do and do not promise
- We keep your original files unchanged and record a fingerprint and a log of key actions, to support the integrity of your evidence.
- We cannot promise a court will accept any particular item as evidence. That is for your lawyer and the court.
- AI suggestions (dates, filing places, text read from images) can be wrong. Check them before you rely on them.
- We work to keep the service available and your information safe, but we cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copies of anything critical.
Fees
Some features are paid. Prices are shown on our pricing page when you sign up, and we will tell you before a price changes for you.
Ending your use
You can stop using My Side at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and we will tell you why where we can.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, My Sideis provided “as is”, and we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for the outcome of your case. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for harm we cause through gross negligence.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; if the change matters we will tell you before it applies, and continuing to use My Side after that means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you keep any rights the law gives you as a consumer in your own country.
